Project: Large Contemporary Garden
Size: 800m2
This site had was challenging due to its unusual shape and position. All parts of the garden were entirely overlooked and there was also a substantial level difference within the area. My clients wanted a contemporary garden with entertaining areas; they favoured mixed planting with lush perennials and grasses.
At the main entrance, I designed a sizeable stepped-planting bed around a limestone patio. The bed followed the driveway’s different levels. Shade-loving plants are planted liberally here, with a small Japanese maple as a focal point where it is underplanted with Carex, Hakonechloa macra, Hostas.
The opposite bed, with it’s sunnier disposition, is home to quarter standard Bay Laurels mixed with Verbenas, Agapanthus and Nepeta.
